Otto Fredrik Gideon Sundbäck föddes den 24 april 1880 i Ödestugu socken i Jönköpings län som son till lantbrukaren Jonas Otto Magnusson Sundbäck (34) och Karolina Kristina Klasdotter (28). Tyskland Efter avslutade studier i Sverige flyttade Gideon till Tyskland där han i Bingen am Rhein avlade ingenjörsexamen i elektroteknik 1903. Gideon Sundbäck föddes 1880 nära Vaggeryd i Småland. Fadern var en välbärgad skogsägare. Från det att människan började klä sig i djurhudar och senare tyg har det funnits ett behov av att kunna öppna och stänga kläder.
